Janet had always wanted to discredit the theory that woman have no credibility in the scientific world, a theory which up until her present time seemed to make sense because of the obvious differences in the brains of the human male and female. Thus, when she was accepted into Yale, she strived in all her biology and chemistry classes to prove that she could make it in the science world. Upon her acceptance into graduate school, she knew that in order to make herself known, she would have to cure some sort of genetic disorder that would serve great importance in the world. To help her with this task she was introduced to a mentor, Dr. Leema Person, another struggling woman in the scientific field. The genetic disorder that they were going to find a cure for was Lesch Nyhan Syndrome. The two collected thousands of blood samples of people with this disease in order to study it.
